Science Museum Awards Certitude Volunteer
The Certitude Work Pathways Manager team are very proud of Delroy Joseph (DJ) who recently picked up a Highly Commended Award for his work as a Volunteer Ambassador at the Science Museum.
DJ has been volunteering at the Museum for just over a year working front of house answering questions and giving directions to visitors. Certitude Employment Advisor Teresa Clark arranged the placement for him after he expressed an interest in working in science.
Science Museum Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sally Monday-Webb nominated DJ for a London Heritage Volunteer Manager’s Network Award in the “Developing in a role” category, commenting:
“When I saw this category I could think of nobody more worthy than DJ. His personal development since volunteering here is visible and all staff and visitors who come into contact with him comment on his great attitude and fab personality.”
The Certitude Work Placement Team, lead by Jan Lemmon, is committed to finding new and interesting education, training and employment choices for people supported by Certitude. The team work closely with individuals and potential employers to match personal interests with workplace opportunities. As well as placing people with learning disabilities and mental health needs, they also find new roles for people who have completed prison or hospital criminal sentences.
