Certitude’s respite service in Ealing provides personalised 1:1 support to individuals whose behaviour may challenge and currently supports 26 families with overnight respite and some day support. The service enables carers to have a break and time to themselves which they really appreciate. The people we support are given choices of the activities they want to do using a person centred approach. The atmosphere within the service is warm, friendly and staff are approachable making it easy for the people we support to truly have time to rest and relax with all the comforts of a home environment. Families who use the service say:
“As a single parent, the service enables me to have time to myself. My son is happy and enjoys the time he spends at respite. I am very grateful for the service I get”.
“My health is not great, the respite really helps as I get time to rest and have time to myself and see family and friends. My son is well looked after and loves going for his overnight stays. The service also gives my son the opportunity to interact with other peers and learn new social skills”.
And from Dr Leaning from the Clinical Psychology Community Team in Ealing:
“I feel that the Haymill Close respite service has adapted incredibly well to the needs of its customers and the families of Ealing. I have heard reports of exemplary work from the team working with very challenging customers both in the respite service, in the community and even providing services when needed to families in other settings.
“I feel that the service provided has given confidence to families and has supported them to feel able to ask for help and know that the team will go out of their way to support.”
